Secretary - General Message

Mathew Philip

Dear Members and Colleagues,

I am truly honored to serve as the Secretary General of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology (ISG), a vibrant and dynamic community of over three thousand dedicated professionals. As we stand on the threshold of a new era in healthcare, I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead for our society.

Gastroenterology is a field that continually evolves, driven by innovation, research, and a deep commitment to improving the health and well-being of our patients. The ISG has been at the forefront of this transformation, fostering excellence in gastroenterology and hepatology through its various activities, including annual conferences, workshops, research initiatives, and educational programs.

Our society's strength lies in its members. Together, we represent a diverse and talented group of gastroenterologists, hepatologists, Endoscopists, and allied health professionals. We are united by a common goal: to provide the best possible ethical care to our patients and to advance the frontiers of our specialty. The ISG is a platform that encourages collaboration, the exchange of knowledge, and the pursuit of excellence in gastroenterology.

In the coming year, we will continue to focus on several key initiatives, including promoting research and innovation, enhancing training and education, and advocating for policies that improve the practice of gastroenterology in India. We will also strive to increase our outreach and engagement with the wider medical community, policymakers, and the public to raise awareness about digestive health issues and the importance of early detection and prevention.

It’s my wish and dreams to make our society a platform to institute and disseminate science to our neighboring countries too. Let our annual conference be attended by other countries too, at least the SAARC countries. Let us encourage them to become our society members as international members.

I encourage all ISG members to actively participate in our society's activities, share their knowledge, and contribute to the growth and development of our field. Your involvement and expertise are invaluable in shaping the future of gastroenterology in India.

I am confident that, together, we can achieve great milestones in the years ahead. Let us work with dedication, compassion, and a commitment to excellence to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our patients and the future of gastroenterology.

The Indian Journal of Gastroenterology (IJG) holds the prestigious title of being the official journal of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology (ISG). As an indexed journal with a commendable impact factor, it stands as a hallmark of our society's dedication to advancing the field of gastroenterology. I kindly urge all ISG members to give thoughtful consideration to IJG as the primary outlet for publishing your research.

You are welcome to reach out to me with any suggestions and constructive criticisms that would ultimately make our society strong.

Thank you for your support and dedication to the ISG. I look forward to working alongside each one of you in the pursuit of our shared mission.

Warm regards,

Mathew Philip
